My passion is to see believers discipled in their faith through the Word of God and His Spirit. My main avenues for this are writing and Bible teaching, training up the next generation of believers (aka our child), plus supporting my husband in missions.
As it is said by Paul in 2 Timothy 3:14-17:
“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
My Journey so Far:
Finishing a degree in Occupational Therapy in 2007, my heart was to go on a short-term mission trip knowing that, if I did not make time for it at that point, then life would take over and I would never go. I had been thinking a month a year would suffice, but God had other plans. I also thought I would be working as an Occupational Therapist (OT) on these trips, but once again I found myself led in some very different directions.
Since graduating from university, I spent 8 years back and forward between Australia and (East and South) Africa. I have been involved with Youth with a Mission (YWAM), particularly their School of Biblical Studies (SBS). I also pioneered an independent NGO in DRCongo (Redefined Ministries International) and in 2014 lead the first SBS 1 to run in Rwanda. During my times in Australia, I worked as an OT.
It is my belief that God is able to use us in all spheres of life, reflected in my to-ing and fro-ing between OT and traditional mission work. I refer to “traditional missions” because I believe all Christians are called to be ambassadors of Christ – in business, family life, on holidays, cleaning the house . . . and in every aspect of life.
I am currently based in Amanzimtoti, South Africa, with my God-fearing husband who has more than proven his love for me (if you know anything about our story, you know this is true!).
In 2017, Glenn and I supported a pastoring couple in their ministry, serving however they needed us to. (Okay, so Glenn served and I mainly took care of our little guy). It was a blessed season for me and one of hard grafting for Glenn! The church we were supporting has now merged with two others in our area in a work of God’s unifying love. Further work of the Spirit has taken place to see Glenn and I sent out to plant a church into one of our local townships (underdeveloped area).
In addition to the church plant, we are involved in community development work and are in the process of registering a Non-profit organisation. God has laid the poor on our hearts more and more the past year and softened us to their needs. We believe Christ preached a holistic Gospel, not a dualistic one, and so we want to see people’s physical needs met alongside their spiritual. (By physical, I include all our needs in this world – mental health, emotional well-being, security etc).
Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do. (Galatians 2:10)
God is also laying on my heart the need to get back into writing. I have a few books needing to be edited (my least favourite part of writing!) and plenty more in my mind to get onto paper, not to mention my blogs. See Books Available.
Thank you for journeying with me. I pray you will be encouraged, inspired and challenged through my blog posts and writing.
Daleth. My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word!
When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes!
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works.
My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word!
Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law!
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me.
I cling to your testimonies, O LORD; let me not be put to shame!
I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!
